Every October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Major breast cancer charities and organizations assemble each fall to raise awareness in this international health campaign. In addition to raising awareness, the goal is to raise funds for research, support, prevention, education, diagnosis, treatments, and potential cures.
Across the nation and across the world, we’ve seen pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness proliferate since the early nineties. In 2007 Tokyo Tower turned pink for October, just as in 2008 the White House was illuminated in pink light.
You can get involved, too. The Race for the Cure is a powerful global event, where millions participate to raise funds and awareness for this debilitating disease, and you can sign up to run it. Here at THE RIDE, we’d like to do our part in honor of NBCAM, too. We’ve been serving sold-out shows to the people of Midtown with an interactive, 4.2 mile tour of the sights and sounds of Times Square in our state-of-the-art, sideways-facing coach for two years, and we’d like to aid in the fight against breast cancer, too.
To easily donate directly to Susan B. Komen for the Cure, you can visit their site here. For the entire month of October, from the first through the thirty first, when you donate at least $5 to breast cancer research, you’ll get 20% off your purchase price for a ticket on THE RIDE. Furthermore, for every ticket purchased through Broadwayoffers.com with the code RDBCA, we’ll donate $1 to Komen.
